Keg at de pass, den Haag. Crystal clear yellow with a lasting frothy white head. Aroma is nice fresh grains cereal, Nobel hop with a little faint citrus. Nice fresh grains. Flavour is composed of clean pils grains, cereal, spicy, light citrus hop, clean and easy drinking. Palate is crisp, highish carbonation, light bodied. Good stuff.

Tasted as Brand Urtyp years ago, rating from old notes. Clear pale golden blonde, frothy snow white head, good fizz. Malt sweet character, grainy and a bit bready, bit metallic, with some grassy hops in the finish establishing a subtle bitterness. Not great and not on the same level as the best actual Bohemian Urtyps, but clearly of better and more ’pure’ quality than the regular Brand Pilsener and to be preferred over most other Dutch macro lagers.

Fresh hoppy nose. Clear pale golden colour, good frothy white head, nice lacing. Aroma pilsner malt, grain, grass. Smooth taste, medium bitter and light sweet, grain, grassy hops. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, long mild bitter finish. Consider this as one of the best Dutch pilsners, though I think that before Heineken took over it was better.

*Old rating, best before Sept.10. Bitter-crisp Pils. Smooth, hints of grain, nice bitter aftertaste. Nice.

Bottle from Jan Linders, Eindhoven, on December 13, 2014.As I can remember the bottle only had a neck label, from which I wrote down "Brand Up Urtyp Pilsener" at 5.5% ABV, this entry looks to be that one though.Clear straw yellow color, fluffy white head. Malty, grainy scent. Malty, a bit hoppy taste. Bitter aftertaste. Weak thin mouthfeel, low bitterness.

At a tasting, thanks kerenmk, smallish head clear pale yellow colour, aroma of water, yeast and skunk, sweet strange fruity flavour with some yogurt, quite bland. Yuck.

Very pale straw colour. Clear. Foamy white head. Moderate hop aroma. Good hoppy bitterness in taste and aftertaste. A very decent pilsener. A bit waterish mouthfeel. Good drinkability.
