[10/13/13] Draught at Arend’s Nest in Amsterdam. Deep hazy reddish amber. Nice aroma of citric and piney hops with some tropical fruits and some caramelly malt. Flavor has some sweetish caramelly malt, piney and resinous hops, slightly fruity and a bitter finish, a bit red-grapefruity. Medium-bodied. Pretty nice.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a deep orange with a golden hue and a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of pine and resin with a bit of grapefruit and underlying sweet grains. Flavor is a bit mellowed with pine upfront but has a growing resin note and a sweet grain backbone.

Amsterdam. Bottle in my hotel room. Hazy amber beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate with fine carbonation. Smooth malt, rich but not heavy. Touch of caramel and even vanilla. Mild minerals. Good marmalade hops with grapefruit and lemon. Light minerally finish. Rich and tasty.

Had it at Borefst Beerdiner. This one went well with the duck in beer sauce. Smooth double IPA with a malty backbone and fruity hops.

Draught @ De Molen. Clear dark orange to amber color, full sized, long lasting, superb lacing, slightly creamy, dense beige head. Aroma has malts, something fruity but I don’t know what, hops. Taste malts, again some kind of fruityness but I can’t identify what it is. Somehow also a bit bready and a touch of grape peel bitter. Too young maybe? Average to medium body and carbonation.

Tap at the brewery. Poured a deep rich amber colour with a round glass-hugging white head. The aroma is rich red-berry fruit, alcohol and a little paint stripper! The flavour is weak bitter sweet with some malt, fruit and spicy pepper on the super smooth palate. The most unusual DIPA I have ever had!
