Aroma of dark malt, caramel, smoked ham, leather, subtle chili peppers, dark fruits, hint of dark chocolate. Flavour is moderate sweet with a light bitter finish. Pretty damn good smoked ham and subtle chili beer, thick body and great balance. Absolutely delicious.

Bottle shared in London - probably picked up at Kris Wines (RIP). Pours clear ruby with a small, foamy off-white head. Meaty aroma, some peat, smoke, candied ham. Medium sweet flavour with big smoked ham character, dried berries, alcohol, fruit cake. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Moderately leafy in the finish, with big gammon notes, bacon, smoke, peat. Fun beer.

Bottle at Craft CG thanks to LKS. It pours hazy deep red - brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is earthy musty, tangy fruits, smoked meats, tobacco, wood, fruit cake and rocky road. The taste is dry, earthy, wood, leather, spice, chewy malts, wood, warming alcohol, oiliness, toffee, fruit cake, chipotle and smoked meat. Medium+ body, moderate carbonation and slick mouth -feel. Proper bonkers stuff. Plenty going on, but not particularly harmoniously. Fun nontheless.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with small to average, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Mildly smoky and peaty malty as well as fruity aroma, notes of caramel, treacle, marsala, hints of leather, a disguised touch of dark chocolate, some dried fruit, hints of smoked ham, smoked barbecue sauce (tomato). Taste is initially sweet-ish caramel malty with notes of treacle, marsala, later more and more smoky and peaty, chocolately as well, hints of smoked ham, barbecue sauce; lingering sweet-ish finish with a warming touch of alcohol. Oily to viscous texture, soft and creamy, almost sirupy palate. Rich and intense, well balanced. A sipper of course, and a nice one - but simultaneously dangerously drinkable as you feel coerced to string together sip after sip in brisk progression due to its balance and flattering sweetness. Real good stuff.
