Caña en señor Lupulo Gijón 30..01..2016. (r1r). Bastante buena. Para repetir sin duda.

Keg at Cask Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico, London. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, coffee aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, coffee, quite bitter and burnt. This is decent.

Opaque dark brown beer, big tan head. Palate is airy and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, just a touch of roast. Mild cream and earthy coffee. Pinch of spice. Whisper of something fruity, well buried under more creamy earthy coffee. Light semi dry finish increases the roast bitterness. Pretty drinkable.

Draught at BeerTemple, thanks to Ster for the suggestion. Cobweb-lacing, light beige, dense moussy head over an opaque black beer. Aroma of dusty old cocoa powder, coffee grounds, dried leaves, charcoal, whisky, bitter chocolate. Dry ’seaweed’ umami, sweet candied date and soft sourish elderberry in onset, soft carbo, smooth nutty and caramelly as well as toasted malt body, full and oily, increasing coffee roasted bitterness in the end together with spicy hops and warming gin-like alcohol, but chocolate sweetness lingers afterwards. Delicious.

Beer from the brewery and drunk at home. black beer with thick lasting tan head. Great lovely foreign stout aroma, it’s like big thick dark intense Belgium chocolate layered over a freshly cut fence. But in a good way. I do like foreign stouts and this is a decent one. it’s dry. It’s big, some soy sauce, some tar some molasses. It’s fun. Big intense but also drinkable as well. It’s quite good.

Bottle sample at the brewery. Pourss a thick mahogany brown with a fading dark tan head. Aroma is bitter dark choc, jammy fruit, liquorice, black malts. Flavour is big and bold burnt toffee, liquorice, roasted barley, dark choc with a little semi sweet jammy fruit and some citra. Palate is medium full, little sticky, moderate carbonation. Some harsh edges but very good indeed. -> 3.8 Bottle 5 and half years on. A dark mahognay brown coloured pour with a lasting head. Aroma is semi sweet, rich fruit cake, nutty, little minty age, chocolate, jammy fruit. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, rounded, nice fruit cake, fig, coco powder, jammy fruit, little wax. Hides the 8% well. Palate is rounded, mellow carbonation, light powdery. Mellow bitter roasty finish. Has held up very well.
