The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited “vintages” each year on November 1 and unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle much like fine wine.

Best bottle yet. Super coffee crema. Oil. Loads of Belgian chocolate. Oats. German licorice. Chocolate wafers. Balanced and drinkable.

Vintage 2012 (bottle date 18/09/12). Almost opaque deep ruby brown colour, large frothy tan head, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Strong smoked aroma, roasted malts, bacon, light vanilla, hints of chocolate and coffee. Taste is smoky, medium sweet and bitter, light chocolate. Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, rich aftertaste, mild bittersweet, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee. A rich, complex and well-balanced smoked porter, a beer like a meal.

Bottle at home. Dry and bitter, smokier as it warms.
