The double beer packs a spicy surprise thanks to the added cloves, star anise and licorice root. The beer has an exotic flavor and a pleasant slightly sweet finish.

Aroma of malts, caramel, clove, dark fruit, herbal. Flavour is herbal, quite sweet. More like a spicy winter brew than a Dubbel.

Bruin bier met schuim. Smaak is vrij zoet en kruidig met iets van peperkoek, iets van bessen en een heel klein beetje rook. Heel apart maar erg fijn.

The dubbel aspect is good. The extra herbs and spices would probably be better left out conpletely. The flavours clash a bit. Sterk Ams

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Clear dark brown with a small off-white head. Star anise and licorice aroma with some sweet malts. Sweet taste with a sweet spicy finish. Spices are a bit overdone in this one I think, it completely overwhelms any malt, hop and yeast character it might possess.

33cl bottle from Beerwulf webshop. F: big, tanned, almost good retention. C: dark coppery to brown, clear. A: malty, caramel, mellow fruits, dark cherries touch, anise, bit chocolate, toffee, banana, spicy. T: medium malty base, fruity, caramel, bit herbal, spicy, leaves, mint touch, anise, toffee, quite spicy but for me very nice, soft carbonation, enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Pours a huge head. Caramelly, spicy aroma with clove dominating. Malty sweet, caramelly spicy flavor with lots of clove and cinnamon, pumpkin and ginger. Slightly alcoholic with a sticky mouthfeel. Balance could be better.
