Bottle share at Mr Smith’s Stratoflat. Thanks to Dan for this one that comes with the added bonus of being a country tick. I would normally not rate such a low alcohol beer, but this is the best Kvass I’ve come across, so making an exception here. Clear deep amber beer, decent pale tan head. Sweet malts and maple on the nose. Palate is light and semi dry and has enough fine carbonation to lift the beer above the normal Kvass mess. Pretty sweet malts bring a fruity caramel. Mild bread and cinnamon. Trace of sherry vinegar. Light crispy finish. A perfectly drinkable Kvass and thus something of a novelty!

1.5L plastic bottle shared in London - thanks to Daniel. Pours clear copper-red with a creamy tan head. The nose has puréed raisins. Caramel, berries, prunes. Medium sweet flavor with more raisins, brown bread, toffee, prune, dates. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sugary finish, more raisins, caramel, brown bread, brown sugar, berries, very slight tang, toffee. Great stuff. Sweet but never cloying. World-class kvass.

Big dirty plastic bottle. It pours clear deep brown with and light tan head. The nose is sweet, malt loaf, dried fruits, cardboard, malt extract and Earth. The taste is sweet, sticky, caramelised stuff, toffee, mild acidity, malt loaf, maple syrup, glacé cherry, and sweet tangerine with a short finish. Light body and average carbonation. As good as a kvass gets.

Brown colour, tall beige head with excellent lacing. Aroma of yeast, rye malts, bread. Light body. Thin texture. Soft light to medium sweet taste with a hint of sourness. Bready finish. A good well-tasting kvas.
