Richmodis Bräu, the former brewery of Richmodis Kölsch, was an independant brewery until 1998 when it was bought by Privatbrauerei Gaffel. Richmodis Kölsch was discontinued in 2010, in 2012 REWE bought the naming rights. Since then it's brewed for the REWE supermarket chain.

(bottle from DerDoppelbock - thanks !) Clear, golden colour, short foamy white head. Slightly sweet and grainy nose with light honeyish fruity accents and a touch of herbal, slightly grassy hops. Light-sweet flavour, light bodied. Malty taste, almost watery and slightly fizzy on the palate; dry and bitter, slightly hoppy finish. Not really convincing but drinkable Kölsch.

Bottle - thanks to Sebastian Very clear, somewhat pale yellow body. White frothy head, which disappears fastly. Weak nose of hops. Lightly bitter flavour. A little bit astringent. Maybe somewhat weak, watery but it doesn’t taste really bad. Just rather weak.

Neutest zur jetzt REWE Eigenmarke: Milder, fast wässrig getreidiger Antrunk, hell, dumpfe platte Herbe. Wenig besser im Mittelteil, hier ebenfalls dumpf, etwas voller. Laffer, etwas blecherner Ausklang. Weitestgehend belanglos. 6/7/6/5/8/6 Nach längerem suchen konnteich auch dieses in Bonn verbreitete Kölsch hier in Köln erlangen. Warum ist es in Bonn so verbreitet, in Köln so gut wie gar nicht? Ich weiß es nicht. Zwar bietet dieses Kölsch keinerlei echte Besonderheiten, allerdings schmeckt es nun nicht so schlecht, das man es vom Kölner Markt verbannen muss. Im Mund entwickelt sich kaum Geschmack, es scheint sehr wässrig. Dann entwickelt sich allerdings ein feinherber Geschmack, der im Nachgeschmack ins bittere übergeht, was mich nicht ganz überzeugen konnte.
