On a trip to Germany this spring, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. finalized its inaugural partner, Augsburg’s Brauhaus Riegele, for a brand new Oktoberfest beer. Released each fall starting in 2015, the collaborative seasonal will feature a different German brewery every year. The partnership blends centuries of brewing tradition with modern spirit, giving craft drinkers the ultimate Oktoberfest, a Bavarian festival beer unlike any they’ve experienced in the US.

Bottled. Pours a clear amber. Nice Munich malts and a clean finish. Pretty good example of style.

Bottle. This was a really good Oktoberfest beer. Amber-copper in color with a large head. Aroma had hints of roasted grains and caramel. Taste was caramel, roasted grains with a well balanced finish. Nice.

Tap at Kings Arms, Bethnal Green, London Oct 2016. Pours orange gold with a white head. Malty with caramel, grassy, a touch herbal. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Had this on tap at Braukunst Bier Festival, München Live, Friday 31st January 2020 in the company of Dominic and Vera (Dranken Geers, Oostaker). Pours orange gold, more warm gold with a white head, nice Märzen, light caramel but good malty base, a touch of overipe fruit. Like this.

On tap at the Tea Merchant Canary Wharf. Clear gold lasting white head. Marzen malty aroma. I mean its a pretty authentic pale marzen. Hoppy finish. Yep ok. Doesn’t go anywhere. Fine if a little harsh.

Keg at Three Johns, 04/10/16. Clear golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is pale malts, straw, grains, caramel. Taste comprises bready malts, caramel, light lemon drizzle, toasted grains, corn. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Clean and crisp easy drinking number - decent.
