Tap. Black color with beige head. Aroma is cocoa, coconut, maple, vanilla, all the Bourbon barrel stuff too. Taste is the same, a lot of everything. Silky mouthfeel, sparkly carbonation. Good, albeit sweet.

Can. Almost black. Maple, massive aromatic sugar, sweet sugary chocolate, alcohol, vanilla, coconut. Very sweet, boozy bitter. Over medium bodied. Super tasty, if this was less boozy it would be even better.

Can from etregourmet. Pitch black colour, brown foam disapears quickly. Nose of coffee, vanilla, whisky, kokos. Taste is sweet, pastry, light roasty.

On tap at Håndverksølfestivalen. It pours almost black in the glass, with a dense, finger-thick beige head on top. Some curtains occur. The aroma has roasted malts, vanilla, milk sugar, coffee and caramel sauce, and a faintly burnt note resembling brown sugar. Alcohol too of course, but not in a too boozy way. It's full-bodied, sticky and smooth on the palate, warming too, with lots of sweetness. The flavor is more focused on the coffee than the aroma is, and there's a good dash of brown sugar flavors, else it's the same roasted malts and caramel, with lactose and vanilla. Sweet finish. Delicious indeed, but I'd love to see it a bit less sweet. 190608

Classic huge round stout. Not pitch black darkness though. But super flavoured but not even as “pastry” as the description would suggest. Clean and big and $24 CAD at Cafe Sara Oslo.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from Beer Merchants Tap months ago. Pours oily dark brown with a foamy, tan head. Immense flavour, very sweet, lots of sugary chocolate, maple, burnt toffee, raisins, a little coffee. Full bodied, viscous and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, more rich chocolate, dates, nips of coffee, vanilla, vibrant maple. Delicious.

330ml can. Sweet, heavy with coconut notes, toffee, vanilla, cocoa, loads of pastry notes, fudge, chocolate chip cookies, biscuit, floury notes and warming alcohol. Quite complex and heavy.
