Our newest hoppy American pale ale, Skimpy Sparrow, is the latest edition in our "Small Bird Series" of lower ABV, draft-only offerings. The nose is an intense, complex fusion of pineapple, grapefruit pith, and woodsy hop aromatics. Citrus rind, grape jam, and lemon fill out the flavor profile, with a firm and long-lasting bitterness. Very dry and effervescent, light to medium bodied.

64oz growler from the brewery pours a murky yellow/gold with some lacing, creamy white head. Nose is very nice, fresh cut mandarin orange, tangerine too, grass, lemon curd, a little white grape. Flavor has just a little fruit sweetness, white grape, a little tangerine, some tangerine zest too, fresh orange, grass, straw. Dry finish, a touch slick. Crushable.

32oz growler filled 6/3/16, drunk 6/9/16.
Moderately-to-heavily hazy, pale, flaxen-gold with light brass tints and a large, white, well-retained head atop.
Grassy, for sure, moreso than most Trilliums, and at first I think that may be to some detriment, as the biscuity/crackery malts rise up and add plentiful "dryness" to the nose, as well. But slowly, stone fruit, white grape, meyer lemon and juicy orange/tangerine assert themselves. After more warming and breathing, the stuff just gets better and better as the nose (and flavor) continues to achieve more juicy depth, complexity and balance. No alcohol or flaw.
Again in the mouth, it begins very, very dry, grassy, lightly grainy and with lots of unripened nectarine, lemon zest and light floral notes. But as it warms, the malts soften all of these dry notes, while the nelson morphs in to nectarine and white grape, quite juicy, and made even more so by the spicy orange juice notes imparted by the galaxy. Tight carbonation, no flaw, no resin, moderate bitterness and incredibly drinkable. The Small Bird Series can do no wrong, it seems!

22 oz. bottle shared by Willrunforbeer, thanks a lot. Aroma has citrus upfront with grass and a mild, mellow white grapes.

The flavor has a nice juicy citrus element before giving way to a mild pale grain and tropical fruits. The juicy citrus texture is alive and well in this brew as well. Really great mouthfeel. In the finish is huge fruit gives away to that Nelson Hops. Bitterness is on the lower end and lingers only slightly. Great balance.

Pours hazy peach into a snifter. White head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface. Tangerine and mango aromas. Soft with pineapple and mango upfront turning to yeast and mango in the lasting finish.
