Draft pour imperial pint enjoyed while on a brew crawl through Santa Rosa. Super backlog rate. Really nice stout here, silky and cream constant. Bold coffee note is cut by a smooth and cool finish. Really memorable stout here in a night otherwise filled with IPAs.

Keg at Third St Aleworks, Santa Rosa, 28/04/14. Light black with a moderate tan swirl that clears to spotting. Nose is roast malt, light coffee grinds, cocoa nibs, brown sugars. Taste comprises dark chocolate, molasses, roasty tones, dark malts and toffee. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation over pitched in this respect. Ok to middling stout, the carbonation certainly dropped it a few points for me.

Draft - Roast notes and coffee. Jet black with a rich persistent brown head. Espresso, bittersweet chocolate, some dark fruit and an odd sourness. Something wrong with this recipe.

A deep dark stout with no head. Faint chocolate aroma. In mouth, a rather light stout wit a bit of grainyness, medium bodied. Cask version also tasted, with a stonger chocomalt aroma, the chocolate was more intense in mouth, harsher, almost cloying, crisp and puckering. On tap at brewpub, August 16 2009.

Sampled at the brewpub. Opaque black with no head. Aroma is toasted malts, light coffee, a bit of milk chocolate. Flavor is the same, plenty of toast, coffee and chocolate. Sweet but not overly sweet. Sticky finish, nice balance.
