Made with hundreds of pounds of hand toasted coconut and heaps of milk sugar, Coconut Milk DIPA delivers with an upfront assault of fresh coconut and tropical hops. Milk Sugar (lactose) provides a velvety mouth feel that carries the huge coconut aromas and flavors from beginning to end, and helps them marry quite well with big tangerine, mandarin orange, guava, and grapefruit notes provided by the massive dry hopping. An assertive bitterness helps cut through the milk-laden body and toasty malt characters to keep Coconut Milk DIPA crushable even at 8.6% ABV.

I heard good things about this so I splurged on a can at CBB. A good looking orange copper in color with a thick light beige head. Massive coconut and tropical fruit aroma, piña colada anyone? Full bodied with a slightly scratchy carbonation but smooth tropical cocktail flavor. It makes me thick of something served in a coconut with an umbrella sticking out of it! Very cool.

Pours beautiful golden. Aroma of coconut fruit salad. Yes, you heard it right. Tropical fruits with coconut. Taste has more of that coconut milk, IPA character there as well, clean resins hops and then coconut takes over again. Super smooth and drink dangerously easy. Amazing stuff.

Light medium amber color. Smells like Coppertone mixed with Malibu but oh so heavenly so with a touch of citrus. Malty mouth with tons of Malibu poured over bread and oranges. Medium-full body. This is really different. Modest bitter finish. Excellent. Love this stuff.

Can. Pours a hazy orange gold with small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong coconut water, dank, pineapple, grapefruit pith. Medium body, juicy, pine, coconut, orange zest, nice bitterness, very good.

Crowler. The beer is medium amber. Quite clear, no haze noticeable. The head is medium sized and white. Some lacing. The aroma is citrus hops, coconut and light caramel malt. The coconut seems very natural, lacking that artificial note that some coconut beers get. The combination of hops and coconut works really nicely in this beer. The taste is fairly sweet with more nice coconut and hop flavor. The malt is kinda strong for my taste, but it’s still pretty easy to drink. Medium body, fairly slick. Very coconut hop candy-ish. Fun beer.

Poured up on tap at Pete’s Brass Rail and Carwash (note: I didn’t see Pete), early Feb 2016, where it exhibits a clear deep pure gold body that supports an off white head of foam. The aroma offers up loads of coconut that’s sweetened perfectly by malts flowing into a vague hoppiness. The taste delivers smooth slick soft yet bold coconut from front to back. The coconut only allows for sneaky peaks at the mango, tangelo, floral and grassy like hoppiness murmuring away in obscurity at the periphery of the experience. This is a really cool brew and I’m not a big fan of coconut but this truly works. I love it.

Keg at the brewery tap room, 29/01/16. Clear golden amber topped with a decent off white head. Nose is citric zest, coconut milk, light floral hop, toasted malt. Taste comprises light tropicana, big on coconut shavings, toasted malt, orange pith, citric tinged straw, melon. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a juicy hop rinse. Decent enough offering if a little overly sweet.
