Sampled draft @ Braustelle. Hazy orange with a creamy white head. Nose is pretty hoppy (interesting for a Hefe) plus some sweet oranges, fruity, touch sugar, rich wheat & touch bread. Taste is bitter grass, herbal, orange, sweet & fruity, rich malt, touch sweetness, light hops. Creamy body, easy to drink. Pretty interesting & unusual hybrid brew of sort. Once again, I think the low scores on here are the result of infected bottles. Fresh & on draft, this is quite a nice brew.

Rating from 2008: Schön orange-trübe Farbe.
--> 12+12+11+11

Draught at Braustelle. Bighy, dark orange, glowing, cloudy, with a fine, low head. Nose of bread, wheat, oranges, grass. Flavor of wheat malt, citrus hops, bread, oranges. A hybrid of a weizen and an American wheat. Interesting and good. Very malty and rich but clean. Weizen body and malt, but are they using US hops and yeast? No banana or clove.

Tap at Braustelle, Ehrenfeld Koln, 27/04/13. Hazed orange/amber. Nose carries light herbal notes, fruits - orange, peach, some hop presence, light spice. Taste comprises soft light tropical fruits, orange, peach, background hops, hint of pine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Interesting non 1516 take on a weizen - tropical fruit sundae come hopfen stylee !

Tap at Braustelle. Hazy dark golden colour with average, frothy, off-white head. Minimally fruity aroma, cautious hints of citrus and peach, some yeast. Taste has an apple note, some yeast, in the finish bitter, minimally peppery and spicy. According to the waiter the batch I tasted was sadly not perfectly elaborated by junior brewer.

On tap @ In De Wildeman. Cloudy Yellow color. Rocky white head, good lacing. Aroma’s: wheat, sweets, with fruity acidity and wheaty sweetness retronasal. Flavor is wheaty, light bitter, light sweet. Light bodied, not too thin though. Finishes medium bitter. I get the impression that they can’t really make up their mind - make a traditional Weizen or a real hoppy one...

Botted as Freigeist Pimock Rhineland Weizen. Pours hazy gold into a Weizen. Bright white head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Banana and bubblegum aromas. Dry with sour wheat upfront turning to mild banana in the medium length finish.

Whole Foods, Bowery 50cl ($5): Pours hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is minimal, but not bad. Taste is slightly sweet. Has a yeasty feel to it. It tastes more like a mediocre Belgian ale than it does a Hefe. This was a disappointment, especially in consideration of the more interesting beers this brewery makes.

Bottle @ Exira Beer Summit III, entitled Freigeist Pimock. Picked up at Mile High in Denver. Pours a cloudy orange appearance with a small white head. Spicy banana bread, orange citrusy, soda-like carbonation in the nose. Acidic carbonation. A bit bready, a bit tart, zesty citrusy, somewhat spicy flavor. Carbonation seems a bit overdone.
