On tap at Hellers, pours a cloudy golden with a medium white head. Aroma is very gentle, with toasted grains and an earthy crunchy sort of character. Flavour is crunchier than typical kolschs, with a toasted grainy flavour. Low bitterness, earthy, grainy finish. Marginally better than the regular kolsch.

500ml bottle. Minimally milky, yellow-ish, golden colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Minmally grainy, bready, malty aroma, a touch of protein, a weak, fruity touch of apricot. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally biscuity, grainy, pale malty, a fruity touch of apricot, some protein, mild hop bitterness. Watery texture, smooth and slightly dry palate, medium to fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Nice fruity aspects, high drinkability - decent.

Bottle from Erzengel - thanks! Tight white head stayed on a slowly carbonating pale golden body. Fruity aroma with melon & peach. Medium bodied, tingly on the tongue with dry sharp clean finish. Tangy tastes with straw, faint malt & a bready finish.

Bottle purchased at the brewery. Unrecognized MJ 500! The nose is grainy, malty, bready, with some lemony hops as accompaniment. Color is pale golden, and it is hazy but not super cloudy. The head is low. Flavor is rich and malty, bready. Not exactly sweet, but rich. Hops are lemony and lead to a prickly, peppery finish. On account of the yeast, the body is fuller and a bit heavier than the normal kolsch, with a bit of esters. The finish is peppery and pleasant. Not as refreshing as the filtered version, so I suppose better in the cooler weather. A nice change, though and much better (condition) than the bottle of Kolsch I got from them.

A Protz 300 tick, courtesy of Erzengel. Cheers. Floral and honey aroma with a hint of spice. Cloudy light amber. Translucent white head starts off fizzy but soon fades. More bitterness than I was expecting - the sweetness comes in second. Citrus. Light bodied. Thin but slick. Fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. Kölsch isn't always my favourite style but this lacks a cloying sweetness which I was preempting.
