This live barrel of NW style sour red ale was initially aged for six months in French oak wine barrels, then additionally aged on elderberries. Sharp wine, dark raisins, red grapes and cereal notes greet you on the nose. Tart dark fruit and grapes on the palate lead to a sparkling crisp dry finish with hints of fresh elderberries and grape skins.

Bottle, 75cl corked. 2015 vintage. An almost clear one, dark chestnut colored, with a nice beige head. The aroma has lots of berries, with some woody hints, dark dried fruits, some notes of blue grapes, a touch of vinegar and some alcohol. It's full-bodied, tart and lightly tannin-ish, with a nice carbonation. There's some vinegar in the rather vinous flavor, with dark dried fruits, lots of berries and a faint touch of roasted malts and toffee. Lasting finish. A bit too acidic I think, but delicious indeed. 220108

Wooo, Cascade. Nice and heavy sourness and lots of fruit. Woody, pretty heavy for the ABV and a nice amount of wine from the barrels. Elderberries give some good flavours and a bit of sweetness. Complex and very flavourful.

Slightest hint of chocolate, plenty of sweet notes and a tart long finish. Almost a fruit roll up finish.

Tap @ Borefts. Dark brown color. White berries and soft floral notes in the aroma and flavor. Citrus. A light but persistant sourness. Alcohol totally hidden. Good!
