Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of adnielsen. Pours an opaque pitch black with a small light brown head. Sweet and pleasant Bourbon aroma atop some smooth roast. Rich body, soft vanillaish roast, some bitter chocolate and again quite some Bourbon. Never overdone though. Warming alcohol. Pleasant. 140712

On my way out of Dark Lord Day someone walked on by and convinced me to try this one. He likened it (albeit a bit more crudely) to the "Mexican desert beer" (Westbrook Mexican Cake). Well, it’s pretty close. Poured a viscous black color with a rich tan head. Touch of Vanilla notes, chocolate notes. Touch of roasted and toasted malts. Sweetness is pretty good.

Bottle from a generous trader. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of milk chocolate, bourbon barrel, roast dark malt, coffee and vanilla. Sweet milk chocolate and bourbon barrel mouth feel - without the alcohol of the bourbon. Smooth. Body a little on the lighter side for an imperial.

Sample at the Ping Pong, Foosball, and Great Beer tasting on 03/03/2012. This brew pours opaque black with a medium light brown head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, bourbon and malt. Full-bodied with a figgy character and notes of berry jam, coffee and malt. Slight bourbon in the background. The finish is chocolate and dark fruits. Above average overall.

Bottle @ Dan’s place, Denver. Pours pitch black with a fading tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, oak, nnourbon, dark chocolate, hints of dark fruit. Taste is roasted malt, loads of bourbon, rather boozy, dark chocolate, notes of dark fruit. Medium body, low carbonation, rather boozy finish. Nice, but the boozy bourbon flavors overshines the beer to much. 220212

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Black appearance with a deep brown head. Boozy, rich whiskey, caramel, dark chocolate, very rich, a touch charred, slight soy sauce aroma. Very rich, charred dark chocolate, big whiskey, thick, light vanilla, espresso, boozy, oaky flavor. Very boozy with a char/tar finish. A little over the top. The base beer of this may be excellent but I’m get way too much booze. (3.1)

Tasted again with Danish friends at Casa Papsø. Not much head retention. Aroma is more smooth than I remember with nice notes of toffee and oak. Way more smooth in the flavor with delicious notes of coconut, sweet whiskey, caramel, chocolate, and toffee. Far superior to my last experience. (3.8)
