This pitch black oatmeal stout is as rich and complex as they come, but as smooth as chocolate milkshake.
Smoky, coffee and cacao aromas lead into rich chocolate ganache, bitter espresso and cocoa powder, with a warming plum brandy hit and a roasty bitter finish that balances out the chewy sweetness, while a liquid honeycomb mouth-feel lifts the bitterness and lets the vanilla shine through.
Malts: Carafa, Chocolate, Crystal, Flaked Oats, Pale, Wheat
Hops: Bramling Cross, Sorachi Ace, Willamette

Old rating - A 330ml bottle from Love Wine in Jersey some 4 years ago. Stored in my cellar, opened & poured 11/05/2020. It's a dense jet black colour with a small beige head. Aromas & tastes of chocolate, dark fruits, smoke, treacle, hints of vanilla & rich malt. Excellent

Last bottle. Noticed this had just passed the 10 year brewed on date so it seemed about time. It's lasted well tbf. Pours near black with tan foam. Aroma & taste: chocolate & coffee, decent body for an oatmeal stout. Medium body with soft carbonation.

0,1l taster at home courtesy of Sander, big thanks. black color, small coffee colored head. smells milky, earthy, milk chocolate. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of berry notes, light vanilla, marzipan, lightly nutty, light cinnamon, sweet spices, bit doughy, earthy. finishes lightly sweet with notes of berry notes, marzipan and some spices. Quite nice one, smell was rather subtle, but taste is very nice, gets a bit heavy though once it warms up.

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierhandwerk', best before May 2020. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, brown head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty and slightly resiny aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, some hazelnut and a touch of pine. Moderately sweet, malty, quite roasty and slightly resiny taste of dark chocolate, lots of licorice, coffee, some hazelnut and a bit of pine, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, moderately earthy-dry, moderately resiny finish. Medium to full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very intense stuff, less sweet than expected, extremely hoppy for a Stout.
