This beer brings together two of our favorite ingredients; hops and rye - serious hops up front provide a pungent, floral, and citrus character. We use centennial, Columbus, and Cascades in this hop lovers dream. The rye provides a slightly spicy flavor and a full mouth-feel. Divided Sky pours straw in color with notes of tangerine, grapefruit, and pine.

355ml can. Minimally cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Citrusy, grassy and piney, hoppy aroma, slightly spicy, pale and rye malty background, notes of lemon, grapefruit, tangerine with a minimally zesty touch. Taste is dry, moderately bitter, piney, grassy and citrusy fruity hoppy, some malty spiciness, notes of grass, hints of lemon, some tangerine; bitter, chalky and minimally zesty finish. Watery texture, dry palate, prickly carbonation. Quite chalky, not overly spicy, no hints of the rye malt concerning colour. Meh.

12 oz. can from Trader Joe's, Chesterfield, MO. Frisky bitter hop nose, and a bit of alcohol, which I don't normally get from an IPA. Hazy gold body, a sudsy head that swiftly settles down. Taste is up front with rye spiciness, with the 3C hops adding a bitter edge. Malt is toasty, but remains in the background. Basically, a well done hoppy and spicy ale.

12oz can. Assumably another rating in the backlog but here we go again. Ever so slightly hazy golden-tan body. Foamy, glass lacing white head. Pretty solid rye-IPA. Clean, well brewed. Smooth, rich malts. Great balance. Good stuff.

Draft. Golden body with a frothy white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, lemon, toasted grain, biscuit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Citrus, lemon, pine and bitter grapefruit in the finish. A bit on the sweet side, but that was OK. Enough depth and then a bitter ending.

Can pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is hazy light brown/dark yellow with finger-width off-white foamy head with nice sparkle. Aroma is dominant grapefruit and rye, with some earthy hops. Taste is grapefruit, dank resin, malt backbone, spicy rye. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation with bitter grapefruit, resin, mild rye finish. Overall, a nice rye IPA that could have benefitted from some tropical fruitiness for added balance, but still good.
