The oxymoron of the style name could not fit beer to Rudeen’s taste. His deep mahogany black colour is not only for the looks but also hides a generous amount of chocolaty caramel roastiness. Hops gives it a huge fruity and resiny aroma and taste. It is creamy, refreshing and bitter at the same time. We advise you to close your eyes, smell and then taste this bold beer which marries stout, porter and a big IPA. A perfect balance between hops, mellow roastiness from the malt, creaminess and drinkability is something that we are especially proud of. Be careful! He bites!

May. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle. It poured a hazy, very dark copper body with medium sized head. Dark malt aroma with mighty hop assault. Citrus, pepper, herbal, but some alcohol, too. Flavor was bitter hoppy with still quite strong toasted and roasted malt counterpart. Basically caramel, cappuccino, cocoa, licorice, herbs, pepper and orange, especially in the aftertaste. Full bodied and still smooth despite its bitterness. An excellent black IPA, really liked it!

Deep dark brown colour, tall frothy tan head, good retention, creamy layer remains, heavy lacing. Aroma roasted malts, coffee cocoa. Taste medium sweet and bitter, roasted malts, chocolate; full bittersweet aftertaste, cocoa and roast notes. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, well-balanced and tasty, excellent.

Bottle @Bir&Fud Bottega (Rome). Pours deep brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, nuts, hops (citrus), well balanced. Flavour is well balanced too, roasted notes with a light hops bitterness. Medium body, medium to light carbonation. Nice!

BOTTLE 33 CL. Almost opaque black with a beige head. Big hoppy nose - tropical fruit, some resins, coffee with milk and caramel topping. Taste: starts quite sweet, but the citrusy bitterness does not give it a chance. A piece of sweet chocolate somewhere in the background. Medium body, smooth mouth feel. Very nice.

Bottle, 330 ml from Pivoteka, Zagreb. Shared with JFK10000. Pours dark brown with large lasting beige head. Hoppy, roasted malts, coffee, bitter finish. Very drinkable. Quite good.

Palackból. Nagy, tömör, örökké tartó bézs hab, fekete szín. Illata intenzív, citrusos, komlós, tipikus ipás, plusz némi pörkölt malátás aroma. Erős american ipás ízvilág, citrusos, gyantás, markáns keserűvel. Hosszú, kesernyés, gyümölcsös utóíz. Testes, de nem nehéz, jó egyensúly, de kissé túlságosan is intenzív.

Tasted from the tap on the 04/03/2016 at the Barcelona Beer Festival. Black colour with a medium and creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, medium hoppy and some grapefruit. Taste is roasted and medium sweet. Intense hoppy finish. Next one please!
