At a tasting, thanks, small bubbly head, clear very deep orange to brown color, aroma of wort and strawberry jam, same traits in flavor, a bit fruitier, also a hint of bread. Drinkable but nothing too exciting.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Na'ama. 2014 bottle. Amber. Malt, caramel, oxidation, wort, fruitiness, a bit of wood, sweet.

330ml bottle. Clear, copper-ish brown colour with small to average, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Sweet-ish malty aroma, notes of vanilla and liquorice (Süßholz), hints of malt lozenge, a touch of oak. Taste is dry, minimally oaky, slightly sweet malty, hints of vanilla and Süßholz again. Well balanced, well hidden alcohol, highly drinkable for a Doppelbock.

Bottle. Lightly oxidized caramel aromatics, nutty. Chestnut colour. Rich full body, mellow chewy mouthfeel. Wellagered, great balance between sweetness and hop bitterness, light stickiness towards the finish. Nice!

Bottle from 2014. Pours reddish brown and leaves a foamy, tan head that soon fades. The aroma is quite strong: butterscotch, burnt brown sugar, lots of barrel, things fermenting that don’t necessarily need to be fermenting. Interesting, captivating, and yet also just a touch ... rank. But not really enough to put me off! Taste is sweet, lots of caramel, vanilla, barrel. Finish is much the same, with a touch of green tea. Body is medium with a soft carbonation. The alcohol is perfectly hidden. Good stuff.

Many thanks to kevnic2008 for this bottle! Smooth and fresh, the beer starts with lots of wood and burned caramel, very smooth, lots of burned sugar with only a smooth line of wood. Very fresh and drinkable but a bit sweetish.

Pours a dark ruby / brown color. Caramel aroma, smooth malty finish. A fine Doppelbock!

Bottled 330ml. -Clear ruby/amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, dogfood and whiff of dates in the nose. Sweet and sticky caramel fruity, strong dogfood, dried fruits and alcohol as well with heavy sweetness in the finish. Unbalanced and too sweet for my taste.

Huge thanks Koelschtrinker! Shared with ogivlado. Hazy reddish golden body with a small off white head. Nice! Aroma.... enormous dogfood and maybe some vague dried fruit and creaminess. Well.. the barrel isn’t that obvious for me, though it has something tannic, woody and creamy about it. Taste... much nicer, dried apricot all over the place, rosehip, oxidized slightly, creamy, dry maltiness. Vague herbal note, extremely vague. I like it actually in a way, but it’s far from perfect.

Bottle, courtesy of Koelschtrinker. A rather dark doppelbock, very present barrel too. Freshly poured it shows some hops aroma, giving a nice contrast to the heaviness in the mouth. Some roast. Thick, full and warming. Well done!
