A hard to find treasure nowadays, the East End Mild is low in ABV but high in flavour. It is rich in a chocolatey malt flavour with a touch of dried fruitiness at the end.

(Cask at Union Tavern, Westbourne Park, London, 22 Nov 2013) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy, beige head. Malty roasted nose with notes of caramel, chocolate and dark bread. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, dark rye bread and a dry finish with a gentle bitterness. Rather light body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced mild. Quite nice.

Cask at the brewpub, London. Pours clear amber with a sturdy, beige cream head. Lovely nose, light toffee, hints of toasty bread and chocolate. Light sweet flavor with toasty dough malts, light toffee, a few leaves, hints of dry cocoa. Light in body with fine carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish, with more toasty bread, light toasty sugars, mellow toffee. A pretty classic mild. Nothing to shout about, but fine.
