bottle from the brewery in Stratford. Now, I’ve just had Partizan Stout so drinking this after should be a good comparison. Black beer thick beige head. Very coffee in the aroma. But more powdery coffee. Less subtle than the Partizan. Yes lots of coffee. Coffee works well. I mean it’s not a subtle beer. Dry on finish. I thought this might suffer vs the Partizan. I mean it’s not as refined or silky. It does have a lot of coffee though. Which for me is a good thing. Yes pretty good.

Bottle at Tap East, London - many thanks to Jack for sharing! Pours amber-brown with a fine, tan foam head. Big, BIG coffee aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor with rich filter coffee character, light earthy bitterness and a mild astringent edge. Fairly light in body given the ABV, and with fine carbonation. Light dryness in the ending with toasty malts and more filter coffee. Nice beer.

Kveldskos på brewpuben i Stratford 3 Nov 12. Veldig mørk brun. Lysebrunt skum som varer en stund og fester seg til glasset. God kaffearoma. Smaken kaffe. Lite annet.

Bottle at Ales and Tails, Twickenham - 15/12/12. Very dark mahogony brown with a forthy tan head that clears to the edge of the glass and leaves a film. Big sweet coffee hit on the nose, roast malt, sugars. Tastes of light roast malt, coffee - but much less intense than the nose, dark toffee fudge, touch of chocolate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, dry finish. Decent.

Half-pint, cask, hand pulled at the brewpub. Patchy, fawn-coloured head. Near-black. Roasted coffee malts to the nose. Cold coffee ground in flavour with hints of dark chocolate. Bittersweet, malty finish. Likable (Stratford, London 03.11.2012).

Cask at Tap East, London on 5th August 2012 during the Olympics. Black with thin white head. Rich roasty aroma. Coffee and malt in mouth; rich bitter roasts, bitter chocolate and coffee in a deliciously blended finish. Exquisite.

On cask @ the brewpub. I did not get any information about ABV etc. so the style might be wrong, please correct if wrong. Dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma is relatively mild coffee and light roasted malt. Flavor has a lot more coffee to it, the coffee flavor is rather dominating and the bitterness could as well be coffee bitterness than hop bitterness, probably a bit of both. Some dark, roasted malt as well, but in the background from the coffee flavor. Medium to full body and coffee in the aftertaste as well. The coffee flavor is nice, but I find it too dominating, even as a coffee lover this becomes a bit more like cold carbonated coffee then beer. The potential alcohol is totally camouflaged by the coffee, but I have a feeling there might be something here. A kick-start beer geek breakfast.
