Clear red brown beer, small dense creamy beige head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, grains, hay, soft roast. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: malty, nice roast, lots of chocolate, very roasted, coffee touch, bitter. Aftertaste: malty, grains, roasted, dry and hoppy finish.

Cloudy deep brown. Modest still stable ivory head. Nose: toast and roast, dried fruit, especially prunes, a hint of smoke. Medium minus body. Taste: Medium dry, rich malts, dried fruit, dark chocolate, hops. Light plus bitterness. Nice porter.

On cask at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - dark brown to black. Off white head. Nose - toffee and light coffee. Chocolate at the back. Taste - more toffee, chewy chocolate biscuit wafer. Palate - creamy and medium bodied. Rich chewy finish. Overall - good gear.

Tried at BeerHeadZ, Lincoln. Deep almost black colour with a medium tran head. Aroma has coffee and light roasted malt. Taste is roasted bitter coffee. Thin and light body.

Cask at the Holborn Whippet, London. Pours dark red with beige head. Chocolate, some fruit, caramel, bit sourish, smells like a cough syrup. sweet. Medium bodied.

Cask at PoW, Farnborough. A milky mocha aroma. Dark cola brown. Some off-white bubbles around the rim. Creamy sweetness with some umami. Milk chocolate. Nuts. Some tart berries in the finish. The liqourice is there as I dribk more. Thick bodied. Creamy. Flat carb. Relatively abrupt finish, an astringeny aftertaste. Quality porter.

Cask at Eastbourne Beer Festival. A quite bland porter with little to sing about but certainly passable.

Cask at the blue blazer. Pours reddish amber, nose is floral, vanilla, liquorice, taste is sweet, liquorice, toffee.

Cask at The Cock, shared with Chriso. Very dark brown with a tiny beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, overripe dark fruit and caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
