Keg at Andrew Usher’s. Black body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of filter coffee, Marmite and a hint of coconut. Flavour of toasted malt, dark chocolate and spearmint. Thin body with a watery mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Nice flavour but it’s very thin.

Cask (6%) @ Gallows Bird. Aroma is rather mild with licorice and hay. Flavour has milk chocolate, licorice root, hints of ash and cocoa. Finishes with salty licorice. I do not usually like milky beers but this is nice at its all intensiveness. The best real ale I’ve had this or last year.

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Opened with a lot of noise. Clear, very dark, chestnut brown. Huge, bubbly, won’t go away, beige head. Charred wood. Coffee bean. Some dark chocolate. Taste is woody bitter. Fairly dry. Palate is a bit thin. Too much fizz. Finishes slightly tart, dry, and bitter. Bit disappointing really.

Cask at Craft 100 - CBC Clapham, London. Pours clear, rich brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma holds lightly tangy dark malts, dried fruits and cocoa. Light-medium sweet flavor with some chalky cocoa, earth and light rubber. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately sweet to finish with notes of burnt cereal, light rubber, cocoa and bitter earth. OK.

Bottle, Delifonseca, Liverpool. Black pour crowned by a thin tan rim. Coffee, roast and chocolate notes present in the beak. Flavour was comprised of some dark fruit, roast, earthy malts and dark choc. Warmed up nicely and dried out towards the finish. Er yeah quite a phat stout.
