Throwback IPA may be mid-strength, but it’s certainly no shrinking violet. Wielding a broad malt profile and a generous whack of hops, this expertly crafted session IPA continues to satisfy beer drinkers the world over. From Port Adelaide to Penang, there’s nothing quite like a Throwy…
The nose shows lifted notes of citrus and pine, with an underlying sappy, resinous quality. Its dank and slightly herbaceous. On the palate, oven baked biscuit and toffee malt develops quickly in to bright and juicy citrus. Grapefruit and lemon present well, pairing with a vibrant, sherbet like texture. The finish is fresh, with a pleasant lingering bitterness and a hint of spice.

@ Gunner’s Arms, Launceston. Golden and hazy, light bitterness and touch biscuity. Really mellow, but balanced Session IPA.

Draught as part of a paddle at New Brighton Hotel, Sydney, on October 12, 2015.Malty, slight bitter, little citrus taste. Citrus aftertaste. Medium to fizzy, a bit dry gypsum like mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Clear golden color, white head with lacing. Hoppy, citrus, some cheese scent.

From a 355ml bttle on 7/10/2015. Pours a slightly opaque golden with a small head. The nose is floral with dollops of light tropical fruit. Flavour wise, there’s lots of stone and tropical fruit, and some firm herbal hops, which linger at the back of the mouth. Medium bodied with the carbonation a touch above average. Amazingly flavoursome for something that’s almost a light beer, and would make a cracking session beer. The only knock is that it actually lacks a bit of sweetness for mine.

Can. Just hazy gold with a white head. Vibrant aroma of passionfruit, peach, mango, pine, grapefruit. Fairly thin with highish carbonation that makes it a bit astringent. Hints of bread and caramel, fruit is sharper and less expressive than in the aroma. Dry at the end with bitterness that’s maybe a little excessive for what the light body can take.
