Can at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours clear, rich gold, lightly effervescent, with a creamy, off-white head. The aroma holds toasted biscuits, faint caramel, ripening citrus, orange, bread. Light-medium sweet flavour with further pleasant, lightly toasted biscuits, subtle dry caramel, mild bitter hay, pine, hearty bready malts, suggestions of berries. Light bodied with average carbonation. Continuing toasty biscuits in the finish, some grains, faint cereal, bread, citrus, hay, very mild caramel notes. Overall, the beer is pleasantly dry, and the biscuity character is true. Vienna lager is really an under-loved style, but this beer is a fantastic example and could turn people into believers. There’s a lot of character here, along with balance and intense drinkability. Quite impressive.
