Cask at The Bear (JDW), Maidenhead. Dark amber with a thin white head; malty aroma; malty caramel taste; with some spicy hops and a touch of citrus. Much better than the bottled version.

Wetherspoon Autumn Beer Festival. A reddish coloured ale with a creamy head. It has superbly roasted malts giving it a fine and slightly burnt character.

Cask@SBWF2012. Golden colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is hops, mild metallic notes as well as some fruity and herbal notes with mild nectar too. Flavour is fruity, wooden, floral and quite caramelly. Quite sweet.

Cask @ Highlander Inn. Craigellachie
Amber brown, clear, thin white head, good lacing, some static bubbles
Aroma - caramel malts, slight toasted malts, soft toffee
Taste - caramel malts, touch of toasted biscuit malts, some soft bitter hedgerow hops, touch of citrus, herbal note in there, subtle fruity caramel malts, only a touch of the Shep yeast in here - subtle but quite complex
Palate -soft carb, thin to medium body. Finish as main flavour, fairly bitter fruity hops, hint of herbs, soft caramel and toasted malts
Overall - I was surprised by this..not usually a fan of Shep Neame but this was pretty good. It was served in top condition which I think helps a lot with this sort of beer - actually think this is the best beer I’ve had from them so far

Cask handpull at The Parrot, Canterbury. mid to light brown colour with thin beige head. Slight toffeeish aroma. Only some sheps yeast flavour. Quite malty. Its not in best nick. Only cask they have. Some fruit like the late red but finish is sharper. Almost no condition but the flavour is ok. And has some decent bite on the finish. Has the best character of a sheps beer i have had for some time. Surprisingly decent
