Jamie Floyd has travelled to Caledonian Brewery, in Edinburgh, to brew a special version of one of his brewery’s beers, just for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. This straw-coloured beer has a light, crisp malt aroma, with a fruity hop presence of apricot and mango, leading to a creamy mouthfeel with toasted flavours and a refreshing, hoppy, creamy finish.
Hops used: Crystal, Liberty, Simcoe

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol, October 2013. Golden with a slight white head. Sweet, vaguely tropical character, a touch of hops and not much of a finish. Not for me.

Hamilton Hall Spoons. Cask. Almost clear pale gold beer with a small white head. Palate is smooth, light and semi dry with fine carbonation. Sweet pale malt and a little cream! Light sulphur - nothing serious. Nice light touch of noble hop bitterness with lesser peel and marmalade. Comes together well. Semi dry finish. Nice cream! Ha!

Cask at the Kings Highway, Inverness, 20/10/13. Clear golden with a good sized white head - a handsome looking beer. Nose is toasted malts, light caramel notes, citrus, grass, thinnish but not unpleasant. Taste comprises citrus, grain, cereals, light caramel, grass. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate with very subtle bitter notes in the finish. Looks good, feels good - nowt in the middle, inoffensive blandometer juice.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 17 October. Poured a clear light golden colour with a spotty white head and good lacing. Aroma of soft fruit, honey and floral hop. Sweet flavours of mango, golden syrup and boiled sweets. Finishes with chewy malt, light citrus hop and peach. Not a style I care for, but this wasn’t too overboard on the sweetness.
