Cask at the Fat Cat, Ipswich. Pours a hazy chestnut brown with a bubbly white head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, citrus fruit. Medium sweetness, heavier bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture. Finish is dry, with a slightly chalky feel, and lasting bitterness.

Cask @ Paramount JDW, Manchester [291014]
Caramel brown, clear, thin dense off white head, good lacing
Aroma of caramel malts, some piney hop, brown malts
Taste of caramel malts, dab of roasted malts, some piney hop, bit of resinous hops, some zest
Palate - Medium body, fairly bitter. Finish of bitter zest hops with some bitter roast, fairly hoppy finish
Overall - Would liked to have more than a 1/3 of this

Cask half-pint in my local Wetherspoons on 6th Nov 2014. Poured a clear reddy brown with a good deep tanned head. The nose was dull sweetness, some toffee and dark fruits. I thought Rye from the first sniff and sip and this tarred my vision somewhat. The dry bitter finish did not come fast enough for me, it might have been towards the end of the barrel because I did not take to this at all, semi-sour and harsh chocolate flavours with Rye maltiness: sorry did not like it at all.

Opaque dark brown beer with a citrus aroma. Flavour is altogether more complex, with the citrus hop, smoky malt and an almost creamy mouthfeel to it. Another It’s interesting and very tasty.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. An attractive deep reddish chestnut pour with a tight cream head; aroma of fresh leafy hops and some citrus; big, clean, fresh hoppy taste with some resin and grapefruit, and a rich malty body; then some caramel to finish with lots of lingering hops. Really good. The best beer of this festival (so far) for me.

Cask, handpump at The JDW, Baker St, Thursday 30th October 2014. Pours dark brown with a lovely ruby glint, aroma of hops, taste is zippy, green, zappy fresh hops, really good, clean fresh hoppy beer. This is right up there with the Lagunitas Sumpin Extra I had earlier, actually I it isn’t quite that good, but it is very good. I had earlier, its damn good. Great to see that this is a brown ale.
