This 22 oz bottle of Not The Stoic was purchased at a bar/bottle shop in Las Vegas some months ago. I felt quite fortunate to locate the brew after wanting to sample it for a long time. The stamp on the label says best after 4/22/15 so I have no idea what its born-on date was. My preferred quadrupel glass, the Trappistes Rochefort, is being used for this tasting. The wax dip is always a bit of a challenge to get through but I finally get the bottle open. The body arrives a caramel brown with very little of a head, what there is is a light tan. The carbonation is active, a sigh of relief here. A decent but not great scent, figs, wood and a curious vinous effect. A drink ultimately, wow, much better than the nose. Fruit cake, cane syrup, grain, cherries, some booziness and a touch of sourness, perhaps from the age of the beer. Quite good in any case, I would buy again when I go back to LV if it is still available.

22oz bottle pours out honey orange topped with a sand. Nose is great sweet malts honey barrel notes vanilla some sour touch. Taste is more of the nice sweet malts barrel kick and a nice end.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with moderate head. Aromas of candi sugar, sweet malts and tobacco. Flavors of candi sugar, oak, orange peel, and dry sweet malts. Definite ABV but still super stuff.
