This deep mahogany beer, brewed again especially for this Wetherspoon real ale festival, has a superb, creamy head, with caramel, vanilla and a slight hop tang, leading to a distinctive creamy texture and a full refreshing flavour.

Cask at the Standing Order. Pours deep red-brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas of toffee and hazelnuts. Taste is also nutty, sweet finish. Light bitterness builds without being astringent. A nice surprise.

Cask at Victoria Spoons. It pours deep mahogany brown with a small off-white head. The nose is sweet, sticky, dried fruits, caramel, dull vanilla, treacle and somewhat artificial notes. The taste is bitter-sweet, woody, dark fruits, raisin, leather, sugar, eatery fruits and varnish with a dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation. A bit sweet and cloying. So-so.
