Dirty Stop Out is our smoked oat stout that has all characteristics of a heavy night out – complex, dark, with hints of smokiness and perfume aromas. A blend of 9 malts matched up with a firmly hopped back bone make this a very self-assured stout.

Old rating from 27-11-15 - 330ml bottle, pours a dark brown colour with a beige head. Aromas of smoked malt, nuts & caramel. Tastes is very much on the smoked side with again malt, nuts & caramel present along with bacon & some slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall I really liked this and will look out for there other offerings.

Bottle at home. Aroma is strong malt, roast, subtle smoke, pleasant dark fruity notes, light berries, soft liquorice, some coffee, milk chocolate. Flavour is moderate sweet with a little roasty bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Lots of character considering the abv.

Yet another beer that I’m surprised I haven’t rated before – I’ve certainly drunk it. Anyway, Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head. Oats are the dominant feature of the aroma, plus hints of vanilla and malts. In the mouth it is quite sweet with roasted malts and oats to the fore alongside some hints of chocolate. Later some smokiness and hints of coffee become evident. Sweetness lasts into the finish. This is quite nice.

Tap at Tiny Rebel, Cardiff. Dark chestnut color with thick beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, touch of smoke. Taste is chcolate, coffee beans, toffee, nuts, touch of smoke, very light touch of spiciness. Recognizble English hops. Tasty.

Bottled. Black colour with a small creamy beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, toffee, chocolate, mild nutty notes as well as some raisins and mild ripe fruits. Flavour is smoked wet wood, some roasted, mild chocolaty and coffeeish notes. Also some sweet malts as well as some ripe fruits to it. Surprisingly full of flavour at 5 % abv.

Deep dark brown colour, small foamy tan head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Smoke aroma, roasted malts, caramel, dark fruits, light coffee. Taste light heavy to medium sweet and bitter, roasted malts, some smoked meat, coffee, bit caramel. Sweetbitter aftertaste, spicy and sugary notes, aftertaste sweetbitter, fruity and spicy notes. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, perhaps lacking body but pleasant anyway.
