This beer came about through a collaboration with nearby Heavy Industry Brewing which closed in 2019. Aloha from Bala starts with a traditional Pilsner mash, but includes an extra step at the beginning to allow lactic acid to build up. This provides the sourness that complements the Australian aroma hops. Bitterness comes from traditional German noble hops in the kettle. Aroma hops are later added to the whirlpool and fermenter. This unique experiment has proven so popular that it is now part of our core range of beers.

Bottle from.Blas ar Fwyd, Llanrwst. Hazy-opaque light amber. Frothy foamy white head. Aroma combines hoppy bitterness with caramel malts. Flavourwise it' has tart gooseberries to the fore, alongside resin. These elements push down the doughy malts. However a sugariness does appear as a sip on. Light. Thin. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Peppy stuff. Suits the Australian garagw punk.I'm listening to.

Bottle from Stori. Appearance - cloudy golden orange. Big white head. Nose - overripe apple, peanut something resembling pine, but more dank. Taste - something a bit wild yeast going on. Green apples and farmyard slurry. Palate - light to medium bodied. Bitter as expected but a sourness I'm not so happy about. Overall - not sure this one was 100% what the brewer intended. Tbror other beers have been fine examples of German styles.

Tap at Thirsty Riverside pop up, Cambridge. Light yellow, clear, heavily carbonated. Low aroma: some grain and some light hay and floral smells. Sweet, uncomplicated taste. Muted carbonation, just enough to be refreshing. Pretty good Pilsener but not particularly engaging. Happy enough to move on to the next drink.
