Trail Boss Jeff Lenosky and Lyons Head Brewer, Juice Drapeau, talk beer at the original Oskar Blues Brew Barn, just next door to where REEB Cycles are built.

“Mountain biking has always been a huge part of Oskar Blues culture,” explains Lenosky. “So much so that Dale started a bike brand several years ago named REEB, which is ‘BEER’ backwards.”

That level of stoke for both bikes and beer has culminated in the brewing of REEB Rye’d, a rye IPA loaded with Mosaic hops, German Pale Rye and CaraRye. The balance of earthy malt and tropical hop flavors makes REEB Rye’d the perfect post-ride refresher.

473ml can from Beermerchants

Pours dark copper orange with a thick white head. Aroma of malts, hints of rye, grass, sweetish toffee and caramel. Taste is sweet, grainy and crisp with hints of toffee, rye, caramel and bready notes. Finish is grainy, malty and sweetish with notes of spices, rye and caramel. A bit unbalanced, feels too sweet and grainy but somehow I still like this.

Can from Cornelius. Hazy amber body with fairly sizeable yeast flecks floating around. Tight white head. No visible carbonation. Aroma of ginger biscuit, burnt sugar, pine and a hint of soy sauce. Flavour of grass, caramel, rye bread and spruce. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Easy drinking for the ABV.

Tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is "dry" rye. Like rye flour? It’s a very pungent rye. Med body. Flavor is rye, malt and not enough hop to fight off the rye spic. Finishes rye spicy and bitter. Is rye bitter enough to bitter ale? Or is their some hop I can’t identify? It doesn’t seem to matter. :) Nice tasty ale. For those who like extravagant amounts of rye. Bought a loaf of pumpernickel on the way home! Whole grain rye.

On tap at bier thirty. Pours out a amber topped with a tan head. Nose is pine grass rye and a good malt. Taste is more of the rye and a nice hop balance. I am normally not a big rye fan but this was pretty tasty.

On Tap at Bier:Thirty, Boise as part of their Oskar Blues tap takeover. Redish amber with small creamy light tan head. Mild malty aromas, some hoppiness but very mild and smooth. Another very easy drinkable IPA from OB. Would not have guessed the posted 9% ABV
