Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2016. Golden in colour, with a slight, white, head. Aroma of sweetish malts and a touch of citrus fruit, with a whiff of grassy hop. Flavour had sweetish, biscuity, malts, some more citrus fruit and a dryish finish. Good.

Cask @ The Lister Arms, Ilkley. Golden with a creamy-frothy head. Has a good tropical fruitiness in both aroma and taste, with a dryness in the latter respect. Its strength is noticeable, but not overly apparent.

Cask handpull at Crosse Keys Gracechurch Street. Clear gold amber lasting white head. sweetish strong golden beer. Wouldn’t call it an ipa. Not much of an apa either. Some hop on the finish. Like biting a sour peach no off flavours but not great. Some pink grapefruit. OK.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Slightly hazy golden-amber with a thin white head. Decent tropical fruit whiff. Flavour not quite as strong as the smell, but still tasty. Bit of lemon in there too, some caramel and a little tickle of spice. More sweetness thsn bitterness which I personally like in a beer, providing it’s not overdone (and it’s just about right here). Conditioning not quite there on this one (unusually for this Spoons) but good enough to tell it’s a decent beer. I like it and would like to try the original stronger version. Please.

Cask at Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Dark gold. Very lively so it takes forever to settle. Big white head. Crabapple aroma with some herbal/TCP astringency. Bittersweet taste buoyed up by a banana and herbal finish. Not one of my favourite beers, but I can appreciate what they were trying to achieve.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Amber with a thin white head; aroma of orange marmalade; smooth and mellow in the mouth with some orange fruit - like a good vintage marmalade; then developing a leafy bitterness with traces of mint and coriander. An excellent IPA, I really enjoyed this, pleasantly different to the assertive American style.
