On Thursday 12th October 2000, Lewes experienced devastating floods. Brewing was abandoned when only the strongest sugars had been extracted from the malt. These were left fermenting while the flood raged beneath. This is the resultant ale. It is dedicated to our staff, whose cheerful fortitude enabled us to brew again in nine days, and is sold in aid of the Lewes flood appeal.

Scopey 10K Celebrations in deepest Croydonia. Thanks to Leighton. Clear amber beer, a few cream colour bubbles. Palate is light and semi dry. Reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth oxidised malts, caramel and toffee. Little off centre cream and dried fruits. Fine.

Bottle shared during Scopey’s 10k - picked up I’m London. Pours clear clear caramel with a creamy off-white head. Oxidation in the nose, caramel, toasty bread. Medium sweet flavor with ripe berries, further caramel, toffee. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sugary, bready and malty on the finish, more caramel, almost no bitterness. Tasty enough. Has aged gracefully.

Bottle big thanks to L-Dogg. It pours clear deep brown with a small bubbly beige head. The nose is soft, sweet, juicy, toffee, fudge, caramel and some fruit cake. The taste is bitter-sweet, oily, fruit cake, toffee, raisin, toasty, hot cross bun, hint of alcohol and some brown bread with a short, dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Simple, but not unenjoyable malty job.
