Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Burning Sky online I believe. Pours mostly clear honey-gold with a bubbly, white head. Lightly sweet, minerally, some leMony tang, good funk, oak, grass. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Salty finish, moderate acidity, slight bitter grass, more wood, good funk and citric bite. Wonderful.

Bottle. Burning Sky online. I’ve no idea what’s happening lately with Burning Sky. Elderberry Monolith was a blinder, but this is just like every other recent release. Wheaty and thin with little character. There’s a glimmer of barrel but not enough to carry the worty blandness. Maybe they’re released too early? Dunno. Disappointing.

Bottle, shared round at Jeff’s. Hazed gold. Foamy white head. Nose has lemon rind. Clean malts. Soft funk. Some pink peppercorn. Taste is dry and lightly sour. Nicely funky and musty. Soft mouthfeel. Light fizz. Tart and light sour finish. Very decent.

750ml bottle I brought back from the UK a year ago, pours a hazy orange with some clumpy, white head. Nose is very good, lemon, grapefruit rind, white grape, some wet wood, some kumquat, persimmon. Flavor is lesser, tart with grapefruit and lemon rinds, some white wine, kumquat, some medicine cabinet funk here. Dry and tart finish. Very well done.

Bottle, 2015 version. Funky ass barnyard nose, grapefruit, dust, old books, grapes, vanilla. Sour flavor, but not over the top, slightly sweet and fruity, citrus. This basically tastes like a nice jonge geuze, and with a few more years could be much better. Now I see it has lambic in it, which makes sense. Very nice, and will get better with age.
