Green apple, weird, maybe off, stale sweetness, very flat. Classic Niigata!

330 ml can at Kinyoubi Izakaya, Collingwood. Sweet grain nose. Golden amber beer with a thin white head. Slight effervescence, starts a little sour then finishes with full on caramel! Wildly sweet finish, really surprising. Late lingering sourness balances some of the sweetness. Not unpleasant but I don't want another.

Can, bb 8/18. Murky amber, no head. 2- Aroma of butterscotch, pears, dried banana. Taste is a little better - pears, caramel, a little spice. Some bitterness. Aftertaste of dried banana. Something's gone wrong here.

Can shared in W2 - many thanks to Daniel. Pours hazy gold with a slender, white head. The nose has notes of butter, phenol, pale bread. Light sweet flavor with some wheat, dough, ripening lemon, sourdough bread, hay. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with more doughy aspect, lemon peel, wheat flakes, cereal, faint banana. Pretty simplistic, but not terrible.

Can from Le petit L’ouest. Pours a dirty, murky brown orange with a medium-sized head that disappears almost instantly. Light aromas of Belgian yeast with pear and peach mainly standing out and some very light funk. Taste is more pear. Body is thinner than water with zero malt noticeable. Fruit forward and sweet on the palate. Really not a good beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Niigata Beer on 13 Aug 2015 at 23:58 - Score: 3

Bottle. The label states that it’s bottle conditioned. Murky dirty yellow with large whitish spongy head, slight vanilla like aroma, medium carbonation, sweetish taste, abrupt finish, precipitate at the bottom of the bottle. Nice try for a Belgian ale, not quite there yet.
