The beer that started it all. Caribbean Chocolate Cake is a dense, rich and luxurious stout. Hand-roasted cacao nibs give hints of tamarind and soft lemon, along with a beautiful chocolate bass line. The malts provide coffee and roast notes in abundance, while the hop profile adds orange and coconut flavours. Spinning on Cypress wood is the icing on the cake - offering lightly toasted vanilla wafers and delicate tannins, balancing the inherent sweetness of the beer. Pure canned indulgence.

0,33 l can. Pours pitch black with medium, quickly dissipating tan head. It is really really pitch black. I tried to shine a decent flashlight through it. Nothingness. Aroma of cocoa and chocolate dominates nose, roasted malt, liquorish and a hint of dried stone fruit and a hint of fusel alcohol. Taste is medium sweet, but balanced well with cocoa and hop bitterness. Body is full, carbonation gentle. Finish is long, bittersweet cocoa heaven. My kind of cocoa bomb.

Really tasty beer. Great balance. Just sweet enough. Rich bittersweet chocolate. Nice torched wood. Earth and ash. Good body, velvety. Dangerously drinkable.

From tap at Taplokaal Gist during the Siren tap tapeover. Aroma is roasty with coffee, cocoa nibs, milk chocolate, wood chips, a soft spicy touch, and chocolate cake. Sweet flavour with a roasty bitterness. Body is medium to full. Excellent chocolate Stout, delivers as promised.

330ml can from the brewery. Poured almost black in colour with a mostly lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, floral. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, light sweet, with a roasty, dry, herbal, earthy, rubbery, floral, light liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. Disappointing.

Cask at the Bear, Paddington on 10th November 2023, on the house as a birthday gift. Sepia-impenetrably black with deep brown foam. Rich and intense earthy roastiness in aroma. Lush dark chocolate in-mouth with sour cherry notes and earthy roast maltiness. A touch of smoke. A rich dark chocolate finish. Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Exquisite.
