8 Maids-a-Milking is the 8th beer in our "12 Days of Christmas" series, and we'd be udderly crazy to release anything but a milk stout. So we made an imperial milk stout to stand up to whatever Old Man Winter throws our way from now through 2019 with the final release of our series. 8 Maids-a-Milking is brewed with lactose, which is commonly referred to as milk sugar. It's the only type of sugar that is unfermentable by yeast, which adds more perceptible creaminess and sweetness to the finished beer. This mouthfeel and sweetness is complemented by robust layers of milk chocolate, subtle spice accents from our house Belgian yeast and roasty, cafe elements indicative of our take on the style. Celebrate the seasons with the best of both worlds: enjoy some now, and lay a few down for up to 4 years to be enjoyed upon the release of 12 Drummers Drumming.

Flarra på Willehill med P.N. Svag lite syrlig doft med viss svag lagringsdoft. Smaken först lite småkärv sedan viss sötma, kanske något bär, sedan nästan lite kolatoner o avslutningsvis en fin balanserad efterbeska. God

Flarra stor The Bruery provning 3 olika jämföres med ölsommelieren innan badet.

The Bruery puts out some fine imperial stouts while I like their Belgian ales even more. So it is an Belgian style imperial milk stout this time, the best of all worlds. For this sampling my ABGB snifter is prepared to receive a pour from the 2024 edition 12.7 oz bottle. I determine a plenty-dark-enough brown body topped by a steady cover of khaki tan foam. The scent is fairly nuanced with chocolate and grain, not really striking. The taste is somewhat of an improvement. Chocolate certainly, malt, pecans, some roastiness, wheat bread, comparable amounts of sweetness and bitterness and an appreciated thick sensation. There are others better in the 12 Days of Christmas compilation.

Bottle thanks to William. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. The aroma/taste is roasted malt and cocoa, dry, boozy, good.

Sweet, a touch boozy, smoky, malty. Smooth, not bad.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black, almost no head. Aroma is definitely somewhat oxidized, with a touch of lactose and cardboardy bready malt. Flavour is off, with tons of lactose and cardboard. I doubt this was great fresh but it's definitely past its prime now.
