Gold with a thin, frothy head. Grassy, papery, herbal aroma. Mildly bitter throughout. Light bodied. The mildly bitter finish lacks crispness.

12 oz. can. Pours a clear light gold color with a small fizzy white head and fair retention. No lacing. Almost no aroma. Mouthfeel starts semi-crisp and turns flat/slick. Tastes like a standard pale lager with a light lemon finish. A little salt in the finish? Diacetyl? Light body. Easy drinking. Pretty good for the style.

Clear golden with an initially impressive bright white head that dissipates in exactly 2 1/2 seconds. The aroma and flavor are rather grain forward. Some light herbal notes, and wet malt. Finish has a slight cardboard note to it. Not anything I look for in a kolsch.

Draft at Mad Dogs, San Antonio, TX, USA. Pours classic pale gold, limited foam. Aroma is sweet cereal, floral. Body is average, like carbonation. Taste is pretty sweet, uninteresting. Finish is standard.

Tap at Bar Louie work event only AB products abound. Dirty gold pour. Nose is light hops and citrus. Tastes bready, grainy, lemon and apple. Crisp enough perhaps a touch thin.

Keg at Half Shells, Plano. Clear pale golden, small head. Mild aroma of green apples. Mid dry with light body and clean mouthfeel. Lightly grainy, lots of apples, low bitterness. Good drinkability thanks to relative dryness and absence of edges. Flavourwise it leaves room for improvement. Kölsch? Really?
