An intriguing marriage of opposite base styles.
Brewed with Red X, the super clean base malt
and some melanoiden balances the dank, citrus,
and tropical qualities of Idaho 7, Centennial, and
Citra hops. A small amount of Carafa is used to
ensure that we nail that striking ruby red color that
tends to elude many brewers.

355ml can. Deep red amber colour with a beige-tan head. malty, caramel, toffee, hops. Taste: malty, sweet caramel and toffee, light fruity hops and light spicy rye notes, bitter finish, becoming astringent. Medium body, average carbonation. Not bad but not what I expected from the name - this was very malt-forward.

Can split at Bespin, from a trade with Stevoj, 08/12/16. Reddish amber with a decent light beige cap. Nose is light hop, caramel malts, toasted grains, mandarin. Taste comprises orange peel, caramel, toasted bread, grains, sweet licks, candied fruit rinds, red grapefruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close dashed with leafy hop bitterness and a light pine tickle. Decent enough offering.

Can shared in London - cheers to colin. Pours clear copper with a small, creamy topping. Aged caramel in the nose, some pine, dried berries. Medium sweet flavour with lightly toasted brown bread, more leathery berries. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more brown bread, some earth, aged pine. Pretty so so.
