Grapefruit & Green Tea Saison

This Farmhand Saison is a nod to traditional Belgian style farmhouse ales using traditional yeast strains. This beer melds the peppery yeast flavour with the sharp citrus of the grapefruit and the tannins from the Gunpowder Green Tea to give something a little different. To further compliment the citrus flavour we used plenty of Chinook hops and dry hopped with Citra.

Bottle at LKS. It pours cloudy amber with a small white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, green banana, herbal, zesty citrus and candy. The taste is crisp, dry, bready, grapefruit, banana vibe, spice, hay, grass, tannin and metal with a drying finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Quite a lot of green banana about it. So-so.

Bottle shared in Hackney - many thanks to Mitch. Pours lightly hazy orange with a foamy, white head. Strong Belgian yeast aroma, with notes of ripening orange, wheat bread. Medium sweet flavour with more citrus, a little booze, wheat bread, pale grains, moderate yeast, lemon peel. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with some bready sweetness, more ripening citrus, some phenolic notes, very slight caramel, orange, yeast. Not bad.

Bottle share at Leighton's pad. Thanks to Kenny for this one. Pours hazy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is a little funk, Grapefruit and green tea. Taste is a nice sharp funky hit that mellows with the tea. Nice stuff.
