Bomber. Aroma is spicy peppers, coffee, wet river rock, dark bread. Pours black with a finger of tan foam that falls after a minute. Taste is roasty, dry and bitter, with quite a bit of pepper heat. Some cough drop and bittersweet chocolate flavor along with all the aroma descriptors. The high bitterness detracts from the pepper character I think. Good, but there are better pepper stouts out there.

22 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, chili pepper, vanilla, light smoke/char, herbal, light pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roast/bready malt, chili pepper, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, chili pepper, vanilla, light smoke/char, herbal, light pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Moderate pepper spiciness and light-moderate herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, chili pepper, vanilla, smoke, char, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, chili pepper, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from pepper spice, increasing though the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy, fairly sticky/chalky, and lightly silky mouthfeel that is great. Light-moderate pepper warmth builds through the glass; leading to lasting body core warming that is not overwhelming. Overall this is an excellent chile pepper stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, chili pepper, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth to sip on, despite elevated pepper spice and warming. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle, best before yesterday. So. Black with an inch of tan head. 3+ Fruity and somewhat pungent ripe chile aroma with mocha and prunes well in the background. But the chile is less assertive in the taste and melds with chocolate, toasted brioche, raisins. There’s just a little rumbling heat with the moderate bitterness at the end too, but it all makes the aroma seem more inviting than a warning of imbalance. Not much more than medium bodied, pleasantly moderate carbonation. Good.

Pours a thick, dark black with mid-sized, lasting head. Aroma of roasted grain, coffee, chocolate. Flavor has some chocolate, some coffee, and the chiles. Just the right amount--not too hot. This is a really tasty stout.

Bottle. Pours opaque black, medium dark tan head, creamy, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is peppers, specifically green pepper, cocoa, roast. Flavor is green peppers, vegetal, cocoa, roast. Light sweet, light bitter, light pepper heat. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. This one is just too much on the vegetal side of peppers to be enjoyable.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. Looks good and dark there in the glass. It has a brownish colored body and a lacing dark beige head. On the nose it's quite roasted. Dark bitter Mexican chocolate, some cocoa, a little dark coffee and dark caramel. Lots and lots of flavor and the chili really gives it a other dimension. Yes sir indeed. A good sip of this really tingles the back of the throat. There are other things here as well, but the heat is dominating a bit. Mild coffee and chocolate in the back. I'd like make a chocolate cake frosting with this! 02.05.2014

Bottle shared by ippopotamo36 @King Arthur (Rome), thanks Alberto! Pours deep brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of green coffee, chili, herbal, impressive. Flavour is light sweet with a medium to strong bitter end and strong hotness, tons of chili! High body, medium carbonation. Hard to drink. This is sick...
