Can. Pours clear yellow, with a creamy head receding to lacings. Aroma is zesty hops, with herbs and grass. Medium body, with average carbonation. Flavour is herbal, zesty hops, with soapy notes grass, as well as a papery malt sweetness. Quite short, crisp bitter finish.

Can from The Beerhive. Clear golden body with a thick white head. No visible carbonation... strange. Nice lacing. Aroma of cereal, salted pear and a hint of metal. Flavour of lemon, rust and Rich Tea biscuit. Thin body with a watery texture. Lively fizz. An average Lager.

Haacht’s pale lager, one of the popular brands on the Belgian market. Tasted from tap in the past but bought a bottle for this rating. Medium thick, snow white, lacing, relatively stable head, colour deep golden blonde with good fizz, cristal clear. Aroma of freshly baked white bread, corn, iron, some sourishly sweaty grains, hint of grass, dry bark. Taste begins with a relatively ’pure’, bready malt sweetishness, but the corn is noticeable (fortunately less so than in e.g. Jupiler); smooth and rounded mouthfeel, a bit metallic in the middle, medium carbonation, somewhat minerally, finishing in the same lingering malt sweetishness and slightly sourish graininess, with a late but in all quite long, drying, grassy hop bitterishness. Hoppier than many other macro lagers and not too offensive in the malt adjunct department: this is perfectly acceptable for its style.

01/11/2014 tap @ Koppenberg Cross Clear golden colour with small white head. Smell is grains and hay. Taste is grains again, light yeast, light bitterness at the end. Not a fan of the style but one of the best I had in ages.

Can. Pale gold with a white head. Grainy aroma with some hay and herbs. Sweet and grainy with a decent bitter and peppery kick at the end. Finish is dry. Not awful but rather dull.
