DESCRIPTION
Doyen is a collaboration between Gipsy Hill and Fuller’s Brewery. An IPA fermented with the famous Fuller’s yeast. We cranked up the fermentation temperature to release those esters, then loaded it with Motueka, Nelson Sauvin and Mosaic hops.
Goes well with history, tradition and breaking boundaries.

Can. A hazy dark golden colored beer with a dense off-white head. Rather malty aroma, bread and light toffee, with a pleasant piney, citrusy hop addition. Orange zest mostly, for the citrusy bit. It's full-bodied and nicely carbonated, with a suitable bitterness. Malty flavor too, with the same piney, citrusy hoppyness found on the nose, as well as some grassy hints showing up towards the lasting finish. A bit too much on the malty, bready side this one, or perhaps it's the toffee that I'm the least fond of, but it's sure a fine brew anyway. 180510

Can drank at home in Hackney - picked up at Clapton Craft. Pours clear orange-gold with a frothy, white head. The nose holds piney hops, citrus peel, orange, a nip of zest. Light to medium sweet flavour with dried pale malts, subtle piney bitterness, licks of grass, more citrus rind, a vague note of cucumber. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with light alcohol warmth, some further piney notes, more cucumber, dried orange peel, bread crust. Overall, not the most inspiring offering, but not bad.

Can. Light haze on this amber beer, good pale tan head. Smooth dry palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Thin malts, traces of cream and caramel. Ripe orange and orange peel. Mild pine. Little tangerine and modest hop spice. Light and fairly dry finish. Drinkable but lacks hop punch and brightness.

Can shared on Level 42, 05/02/2018. Many thanks! A clear deep orange coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is nice base malts, little nutty, clean jammy orange, apricot, woody grassy hop. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, light earthy, pine and orange rind, light grains, apricot. Palate is light grainy, resinous, moderate carbaontion. Not bad. Lingering earthy grains.

Can split at London Beer Lab, 02/02/18. Clear golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is toasted malts, grassy hop, orange pith, toasted breads, melon. Taste comprises light biscuit, toasted grains, orange pith, melon, breads, caramel wafer, orange wine gum. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with grassy come juicy hop bitterness. Decent clean drinking IPA but at this pricepoint I would look elsewhere for a regular hoppy brew.
