Bottle. Creme brรปlรฉe pudding smell. Sweet but with some booze too. Decent, dubbel/quad like rather than scotch. Sweetness and some caramel. Like Belgian Xmas beer without the spice. Enjoyable. Well done! They did it on the last one! But maybe i'm the only one who thinks so.

Bodney Towers bottle share. Thanks to Leighton. Hazy deep reddish - amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth light palate, decent fine minerally carbonation. Light sweetish malts. Banana esters and mild bitterness. Red berries and a touch of pine. Not sure I could have identified this as a Scotch Ale but it's quite a tasty affair.

Bottle at LKS - thanks to the host! It pours lightly hazy red - brown with a small, bubbly white head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, vanilla, toffee, nougat, cereal and millionaire's shortbread. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, oily, toffee, nougat, maltesers, shortcake, fudge, toffee, salted caramel, spice, slick feel and some alcohol warmth. The finish is dry and woody. Medium body and fine carbonation. Quite fun, but it is a touch too sweet for my liking.

Bottle into a tulip showing moderately filtered amber brown with no head. The nose shows moderately intense notes of sweet Belgian yeast and sweet malts. The palate is medium bodied and barely carbonated. Moderately sweet with lightly intense notes of bready malts.

Bottle shared in Hackney - many thanks to TimE for the trade. Pours unclear ruby-brown with a foamy, tan head. The aroma holds toffee, ripe orange, brown bread. Medium sweet flavour with lots of toffee, dried fruits, dates and figs, no bitterness. Medium to full bodied, oily, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, sticky sweet, lots of gooey toffee, more dates and figs. Quite sweet but lots of fun.

AJB #12 Is a scotch ale (9%) but as they have a regular scotch ale and this is a Barrel Reserve Society brew then I guess it was barrel aged? Served in my thistle glass it was a deep inky black with a thick beige head of foam. The aroma is sweet treacle, oak and chocolate. Medium bodied with oaky, chocolate, bourbon and grape notes it seems less full and rich than their regular scotch ale. I guess the barrel thinned the body out.

330 ml bottle. Nose is caramel, fudge, raisins. Dark brown, cloudy, with lace. Metallic cola flavor, lemon, weirdly fizzy and boozy with a very thin body. More like a day-old cola. Unimpressed.
