Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 34C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 61 (BBF 30/04/2018). AROMA: medium-low hop aroma (slightly fruity, starting to fade to oxidation). APPEARANCE: âmbar color and clear. medium-low ivoy head with good retention. TASTE: medium-low hop notes (resin, pine, slight citric, fading to dried grass), followed by medium-high bitterness. roastiness almost imperceptible. finishes dry and bitter. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an unbalanced hibrid between a dark mild and a hopped ale. needs retasting.

330ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a medium beige head, good retention. Aroma is incredibly weak, barely anything to it, just about make out some subtle roast malts and faint citrus, pine hops. Taste is similarly crap, strong metallic/plastic notes hide most of the roast malt and any hops that are in this, and it lingers in the aftertaste too to make things worse. Body is thin for the style, carbonation is average. Probably the worst black IPA I've ever had, extremely poor.

Cloin's 20K @ T42. Thanks to Wingman. Hazy amber - brown beer, big cream coloured head. Raw malt on the nose. Palate is airy, dry and has decent fine carbonation. Grainy papery malts, a little papery caramel. Bitter floralness. Bitter thin dry citrus. Dry papery finish. Pretty poor.

Bottle shared in London on cloin's 20k - cheers to Dave. Pours unclear golden-brown wit a small, creamy head. The nose holds toasty grains, old orange peel. Light sweet flavour, strongly bitter, very astringent, with dry wood, pine. Light to medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with more aggressive astringency, woody dryness, old carpets, bitter citrus peel. Not good at all.

Bottle at L42. It pours hazy red - brown with a massive foamy beige head. The aroma is sweet, tangy, dried fruit, manure, wet cardboard, spice and dirt. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, dried berry, earthy, dirt, earth, leather, stewed black tea and burnt plastic with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Really shit overall. Filthy.

Bottle split at my 20 KAY tastin, thanks to the Wingmane, 13/09/17. Hazed amber with a RIDICULOUS egg shell white head of boobles. Nose is ... not a lot ... light citric notes, straw, grains, bread, faint caramel. Taste comprises light hops, orange marmalade, caramel, light bread, plastic tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splahed with earthy hop bitterness. Hmmmm .... not G reat.

Handpull cask at Broood, Leicester. Dark brown with considerable translucency like a soda. Pine, chocolate malt and a touch of liquorice in the aroma. Taste is bittersweet and dominated by roasted malt. Finishes considerably more bitter than it starts, with some aggressive hop vying for attention. Body is a bit watery. It’s OK.
