Resurrection beers are replicas of brews from the distant past, which exist only in brewing archives. 56/- was last brewed by Maclays of Alloa in 1909. Brewing at the Thistle brewery ceased in 1999, perhaps due to the overwhelming popularity of pale beers. This beer is dark red, well-hopped and has a complex, luscious flavour.

Deep chestnut brown, clear, frothy slightly off white head, good colour
Aroma of rich caramel malts, quite rich soft toffee, touch of doughy malt, soft dark fruits, some raisin, mainly rich malts
Taste of smooth malts, rich dark caramel, rich toffee, soft raisin, dough, alcohol very well hidden
Palate - soft to medium carb, medium body, smooth texture. Finish as main flavour, smooth rich caramel, light roast
Overall - Another well made beer from Luckie Ales

Bottle from Cornelius. Dark brown body with red tints. Large off-white head that leaves light lacing. Strong aroma of yeast, dark chocolate, orange and rum. Flavour of sweet toffee, sugar, rum and raisin. Spicy finish. Tastes quite boozy for 7.0% ABV. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Lively fizz. An excellent beer - lovely warming alcohol and rich, heavy flavours.
